Suffern Hosts Breakfast with Santa to Benefit Veterans

Suffern, NY – The Village of Suffern introduced a new tradition with its Breakfast with Santa, held on Sunday, December 15th, 2024, at the Suffern Community Center. The event combined holiday cheer with meaningful community giving, benefiting homeless veterans and the National Veteran’s Suicide Hotline.
More than 300 residents attended the event, enjoying a delicious breakfast and moments of festive fun with Santa. The true highlight of the day, however, was the overwhelming generosity of the community, which helped raise thousands of dollars to support veterans in need.
“The smiles on the kids’ faces were the best part of the day,” said Village of Suffern Mayor Michael Curley. “But knowing we raised significant funds for homeless veterans and the Veteran Suicide Hotline filled me with inspiration and pride.”
The event was a collaborative effort, with American Legion Post 859 playing a key role in ensuring its success. Additional support came from the Suffern Department of Public Works (DPW), led by Joe Hunt, along with numerous community volunteers. Mayor Curley also extended special thanks to former mayors Dagan LaCorte and Ed Markunas for their contributions to the event.
This event not only brings holiday magic to Suffern but also underscores the village’s commitment to supporting those who have served our country. As Mayor Curley said, “This is one of the best events of the year.”
