This afternoon I was notified by Suez Water that a major water main break has occurred within the Town. Emergency repairs are scheduled to begin at 10 pm tonight, and are expected to last 12-16 hours, but may take longer. Suez is asking customers in Airmont, Chestnut Ridge, Montebello, New Hempstead, Kaser, New Square, Spring Valley, Wesley Hills and Pomona to refrain from all outdoor watering and discretionary water use on Thursday, July 1. In addition, during this time, customers may temporarily experience discolored water or low water pressure. I am providing this notification to our residents so that everyone can be as prepared as possible. The Town will continue to monitor this situation and we will share further information from Suez on the status of the repairs as soon as it becomes available.
