Town of Ramapo Supervisor Michael Specht attended the ribbon cutting at the Strides Pharma Science plant in Chestnut Ridge, joining Lt. Governor Brian Benjamin and other state and local officials in welcoming Strides to Rockland County and the Town of Ramapo. Strides has moved all of its manufacturing and marketing operations from out of state and overseas to the Ramapo site, which is located at the former Endo Pharmaceutical Plant. Strides will retain all of Endo’s 215 employees and will add an additional 40 jobs as it invests $42 million in expanding its facilities and operations in our town. Thank you to Governor Kathy Hochul, Lt. Governor Benjamin, and Strides Pharma for proving that New York, Rockland and Ramapo are open for business.

This afternoon I was notified by Suez Water that a major water main break has occurred within the Town. Emergency repairs are scheduled to begin at 10 pm tonight, and are expected to last 12-16 hours, but may take longer. Suez is asking customers in Airmont, Chestnut Ridge, Montebello, New Hempstead, Kaser, New Square, Spring Valley, Wesley Hills and Pomona to refrain from all outdoor watering and discretionary water use on Thursday, July 1. In addition, during this time, customers may temporarily experience discolored water or low water pressure. I am providing this notification to our residents so that everyone can be as prepared as possible. The Town will continue to monitor this situation and we will share further information from Suez on the status of the repairs as soon as it becomes available.
