Haverstraw is a village incorporated in 1854 in the town of Haverstraw in Rockland County, New York, United States. It is located north of Congers, southeast of West Haverstraw, east of Garnerville, northeast of New City, and west of the Hudson River at its widest point. According to the 2019 U.S. Census estimate, the population was 12,045, an increase from the 2010 Census population of 11,910.

Haverstraw Town Supervisor Howard T. Phillips, Jr. is very pleased to announce that at the upcoming meeting of the Town Board on Tuesday, February 8th there will be a celebration of Black History Month.
The Supervisor and the Haverstraw Town Board will be recognizing two wonderful individuals, Jacqueline Foy and Beatrice Warren, for their commitment to the Haverstraw community.
Jacqueline (Lynn) Foy is a lifelong Town of Haverstraw resident who has worked behind the scenes in many programs and activities in Haverstraw and Rockland County. She was very involved in the Multicultural Festival, is an active member of Fairmount Baptist Church and is currently a member of the Village of West Haverstraw Zoning Board and a proud member of
the Nyack NAACP.
Beatrice Warren is a lifelong Town and Village of Haverstraw resident. Bea (as everyone calls her) is someone who works behind the scenes and never says no to being involved and helping out. She was also involved in the Multicultural Festival and is a proud member of the Nyack NAACP. I
n addition, she is an active member of Calvary Baptist Church and has participated in Community Outreach programs. While health issues have recently prevented her direct involvement in current activities, she still does whatever she can to help.
The Supervisor stated that he and the Town Board are very proud of these two individuals and looks forward to recognizing them for their dedication to Haverstraw and the Rockland County community.

The Town of Haverstraw has received additional Covid-19 test kits from New York State through the County for public distribution.
These will be distributed on a first come, first served basis at Town Hall at the Town Clerk and Receiver of Taxes Office.
The test kits will be distributed at Town Hall Monday through Friday from 9:30 am – 4:30 pm.

Senator James Skoufis (D-Hudson Valley) will host a stuffed animal giveaway at the Haverstraw Village Hall at 40 New Main Street on Sunday, December 19 from 2:00pm to 3:30pm.
“Every child deserves to find joy and moments of delight during the holiday season,” said Senator Skoufis. “Beyond being a resource for our adult community all year round, I am proud to show our youngest residents that they can find a helping hand with me and my team.”
Stuffed animals for the event have been donated by PETSMART.
